Iasi Open: Top seed Begu advances to last four

Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the top seed, reached the last four of the Iasi Open by defeating Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 6 seed, 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 at Baza Sportivă Ciric on Friday evening.

Begu, ranked No 31, will face the winner of the match between Russian Darya Astakhova and Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 8 seed, next.

In the previous rounds, the Romanian won against Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (7-6 (4), 6-1) and Hungarian Reka Luca Jani (6-3, 6-1).

Teichmann, ranked No 124, won against Romanian wildcard Ilinca Amariei (6-3, 6-1) and Romanian wildcard Anca Alexia Todoni (5-7, 6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
