Kazakh Yulia Putintseva won against German Tamara Korpatsch 6-2, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Wednesday night.

Putintseva, ranked No 79, will play No 15 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova next.
