Indian Wells: Sakkari books spot in last 16

Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed, defeated Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 20 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Monday night.

Sakkari, ranked No 9, will face Frenchwoman Diane Parry next.

The Greek won against Russian Diana Shnaider (5-7, 6-4, 6-0) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.

In the second round of the Indian Wells tournament, Garcia, ranked No 26, won against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-1, 3-6, 6-3).
