Italian Open: Keys reaches third round

American Madison Keys, the No 5 seed, beat Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva 7-6 (4), 6-1 to move into the third round of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Thursday evening.

Keys, ranked No 6, will face American Peyton Stearns next.

Gracheva, ranked No 65, won against Australian qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Rome tournament.
