Jasmin Open: Burel needs 11 match points before holding off valiant Erika Andreeva

Frenchwoman Clara Burel, the No 8 seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Jasmin Open by edging out Russian wildcard Erika Andreeva 6-0, 5-7, 7-6 (2) at the Skanes Family Hotel Monastir on Thursday.

Burel, ranked No 74, led 5-0 in the third set and missed 10 match points before finally clinching victory. She will face Italian Lucrezia Stefanini next.

The 22-year-old Frenchwoman won against Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Monastir tournament, Andreeva, ranked No 130, beat Latvian Darja Semenistaja (6-2, 6-0).
