Korea Open: Pegula through to 12th QF of season; to meet Liu next

Top seed Jessica Pegula moved into the last eight of the Korea Open by winning against Ashlyn Krueger 6-3, 6-1 in Seoul on Thursday.
Pegula, ranked No 4, will play countrywoman Claire Liu next for a place in the semi-finals. This is the 12th time that the American has reached the quarter-finals or better on the tour in 2023. She is third on the tour for most WTA match wins behind Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka.
The American defeated Slovak Viktoria Hruncakova (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Seoul tournament.
Earlier in the week, Krueger, ranked No 80, won against Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-2, 6-4).
