Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 7 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Ladies Open Lausanne by edging out Swiss Jil Teichmann 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 on Thursday evening.
Cornet, ranked No 70, will face Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 9 seed, next.
In the previous round, the 33-year-old Frenchman won against Swiss Viktorija Golubic (3-6, 6-1, 6-3).
Teichmann, ranked No 124, defeated Russian Erika Andreeva (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
