Madrid Open: Kostyuk breezes past Potapova to move into quarter-finals

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 24 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Madrid Open by defeating Russian Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 6-2 at the Caja Mágica.
Kostyuk, ranked No 36, will play Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, next.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian won against Emma Raducanu (6-4, 2-6, 6-2) and edged out Russian Veronika Kudermetova (6-0, 4-6, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Potapova, ranked No 39, beat American Ashlyn Krueger (6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-2), Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-4) and American Sofia Kenin, the No 32 seed (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6)).
