Madrid Open: Putintseva beats Kasatkina to reach last eight

Kazakh Yulia Putintseva advanced to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open by winning against Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 10 seed, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at the Caja Magica on Monday evening.
Putintseva, ranked No 50, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, next.
The Kazakh defeated Chinese Yue Yuan (6-2, 6-4), Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 6 seed (7-5, 2-0 ret.) and American Caroline Dolehide (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Kasatkina, ranked No 11, won against Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-3) and No 20 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (7-6 (5), 7-5).
