Swiss Simona Waltert advanced to the quarter-finals of the Megasaray Hotels Open 2 when Sara Bejlek retired on Thursday.
Waltert, ranked No 155, led 4-6, 2-0 when Bejlek, ranked No 144, pulled out on Thursday.
The Swiss will play Serb Olga Danilovic, the top seed, next.
Simona Waltert won against Russian qualifier Tatiana Prozorova (6-3, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Sara Bejlek defeated Croat Petra Martic, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-2).
