Monastir Open: Uchijima moves into quarter-finals
Moyuka Uchijima won against Petra Martic 7-5, 7-6 (5) on Thursday and will play Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 5 seed, in the next round
Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima moved into the quarter-finals of the Monastir Open by beating Croat Petra Martic, the No 4 seed, 7-5, 7-6 (5) at the Monastir Tennis Club on Thursday.
Uchijima, ranked No 124, will play Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 5 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Japanese won against Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Jasmin Open Tunisia.
In the previous round of the Jasmin Open Tunisia, Martic, ranked No 41, defeated Czech qualifier Linda Fruhvirtova (6-2, 7-5).
