Martic marches on in Monterrey

Croatia’s Petra Martic moved into the second round of the Monterrey Open by beating Canadian qualifier Carol Zhao 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-2 at Sonoma Club on Tuesday night.

Martic, ranked No 105, will next face the winner of the match between Serb qualifier Aleksandra Krunic and Chinese Yue Yuan, the No 7 seed.
