Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 7 seed, reached the second round of the Monterrey Open when Colombian Camila Osorio retired on Tuesday evening at the Estadio GNP Seguros.

Sherif, ranked No 53, led 7-6 (5), 4-2 when Osorio, ranked No 70, pulled out on Tuesday evening at the Estadio GNP Seguros.

The Egyptian will face the winner of the match between American qualifier Sachia Vickery and Chinese Xinyu Wang next.
