New Zealander Lulu Sun defeated Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet 7-6 (3), 6-3 to advance to the second round of the Monterrey Open at Sonoma Club on Monday night.
Sun, ranked No 64, will face Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle next.
