Monterrey Open: Yuan reaches quarter-finals
Yue Yuan defeated Petra Martic 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday night. She’ll play the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 3 seed, and Mexican Renata Zarazua in the next round

Chinese Yue Yuan, the No 7 seed, beat Croat Petra Martic 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Monterrey Open at Sonoma Club on Wednesday night.
Yuan, ranked No 38, will play the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 3 seed, and Mexican Renata Zarazua next.
Ahead of her victory, the Chinese won against Serb qualifier Aleksandra Krunic (4-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Martic, ranked No 105, won against Canadian qualifier Carol Zhao (7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-2) in the previous round of the Monterrey tournament.
