Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open: Samsonova to meet Bencic in final

Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 8 seed, moved into the final of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open by edging out Chinese Qinwen Zheng 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 on Saturday.
Samsonova, ranked No 19, will face Swiss Belinda Bencic, the second seed, next.
The Russian won against American lucky loser Claire Liu (3-6, 6-2, 6-0), Czech Barbora Krejcikova (7-5, 7-6 (6)) and No 4 seed Veronika Kudermetova (6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Zheng, ranked No 29, beat Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino (6-3, 6-3), Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 5 seed (7-6 (10), 6-1) and Russian Daria Kasatkina, the top seed (6-1, 6-2).
