Mumbai Open: Kudermetova beats Yamalapalli to make quarter-finals

Russian Polina Kudermetova edged out Indian wildcard Sahaja Yamalapalli 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Mumbai Open at the Cricket Club of India.
Kudermetova, ranked No 162, will face Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old Russian beat Anastasia Zakharova (7-6 (8), 6-0).
Yamalapalli, ranked No 336, edged out American Kayla Day, the top seed (6-4, 1-6, 6-4) in the previous round of the Mumbai tournament.
