Pole Maja Chwalinska, the No 7 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the MundoTenis Open by beating Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 on Friday evening.
Chwalinska, ranked No 158, will play Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean, the No 8 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Pole won against Spaniard Angela Fita Boluda (7-6 (3), 6-2) and Ukrainian Oleksandra Oliynykova (7-6 (1), 6-1).
Sherif, ranked No 68, won against Spaniard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales (6-3, 7-5) and Portuguese Francisca Jorge (6-1, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
