Japanese Naomi Osaka, the top seed, beat Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Osaka Open at the Utsubo Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Osaka, ranked No 16, will face Romanian Jaqueline Cristian next.
Ahead of her victory, the Japanese won against wildcard Wakana Sonobe (6-0, 6-4).
