American Louisa Chirico beat Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-1 to advance to the last 8 of the Nordea Open at Båstad Tennisstadion in Bastad on Wednesday evening.
Chirico, ranked No 251, will face American Claire Liu, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against Norwegian Malene Helgo (6-1, 6-4).
Peterson, ranked No 75, won against Su Jeong Jang (7-6 (2), 6-4) in the previous round of the Swedish Open.
