Nordea Open: Second seed Putintseva through to semi-finals

Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the second seed, reached the last four of the Nordea Open by edging out Spaniard Aliona Bolsova 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4 at Båstad Tennisstadion in Bastad on Thursday afternoon.

Putintseva, ranked No 56, will face Serb Olga Danilovic, the No 8 seed, next.

The Kazakh won against Swede wildcard Lisa Zaar (6-3, 6-4) and American Katie Volynets (6-0, 1-0 ret.) in the previous rounds of the Swedish Open.

Earlier in the tournament, Bolsova, ranked No 118, edged out Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, the No 6 seed (3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4)) and beat Slovenian Polona Hercog (6-3, 6-3).
