Palermo Open: Li battles past Andreeva to make quarter-finals

American Ann Li edged out Russian Erika Andreeva 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to move into the last eight of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club.

Li, ranked No 127, will face Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu next.

Ahead of her victory, the American beat No 3 seed Peyton Stearns (3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2).

Andreeva, ranked No 92, won against Latvian Darja Semenistaja (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round of the Palermo tournament.
