Palermo Open: Sherif into semi-finals

Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 3 seed, defeated Colombian Camila Osorio 6-4, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club on Friday evening.
Sherif, ranked No 38, will play the winner of the match between American Emma Navarro, the No 7 seed, and Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the second seed, next.
The Egyptian edged out Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5) and won against Russian lucky loser Sofya Lansere (6-3, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Osorio, ranked No 74, beat French wildcard Fiona Ferro (7-6 (2), 6-1) and Russian Erika Andreeva (6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-2).
