Slovak Rebecca Sramkova edged out Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 12 seed, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the last 16 of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Tuesday.
Sramkova, ranked No 46, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 5 seed, next.
The Slovak won against Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Qatar tournament.
In the first round of the Qatar tournament, Andreeva, ranked No 15, edged out American qualifier Katie Volynets (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4).
