Rabat Open: Joint cruises past Li to move into semi-finals

Australian Maya Joint reached the semi-finals of the Rabat Open by beating American Ann Li, the No 4 seed, 6-2, 6-1 at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc.
Joint, ranked No 78, will face Australian Ajla Tomljanovic next.
The 19-year-old Australian won against Croat Ana Konjuh (7-5, 6-2) and American Katie Volynets, the No 9 seed (6-0, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Rabat tournament, Li, ranked No 57, won against Russian lucky loser Maria Timofeeva (7-6 (6), 6-2) and edged out Hailey Baptiste (6-4, 6-7 (5), 7-5).
