Rouen Open: Ferro advances to quarter-finals

French wildcard Fiona Ferro advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rouen Open by beating Spaniard Aliona Bolsova 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-3 at Palais des sports de Rouen on Thursday afternoon.

Ferro, ranked No 175, will play the winner of the match between Swiss Viktorija Golubic, the No 9 seed, and French qualifier Tiphanie Lemaitre next.

The Frenchwoman won against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, the No 6 seed (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Rouen tournament.

During the first round of the Rouen tournament, Bolsova, ranked No 135, defeated Belarusian lucky loser Iryna Shymanovich (6-4, 6-4).
