Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse moved into the quarter-finals of the’s-Hertogenbosch Open by beating Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine 6-4, 6-3 at Autotron Rosmalen on Thursday.

Ruse, ranked No 80, will face the winner of the match between Canadian wildcard Bianca Andreescu and New Zealander Lulu Sun, the No 7 seed, next.

The Romanian won against Dutch qualifier Isis Louise van Den Broek (6-2, 6-1) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Rosmalen tournament, Branstine, ranked No 231, won against Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the top seed (6-4, 5-7, 6-1).
