Strasbourg Open: Blinkova beats Navarro to reach semis

Russian Anna Blinkova defeated American Emma Navarro 6-4, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the WTA Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Thursday.

Blinkova, ranked No 66, will play the winner of the match between Russian wildcard Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and American Lauren Davis, the No 7 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the Russian edged out Frenchwoman Amandine Hesse (4-6, 6-0, 6-4) and German Anna-Lena Friedsam (6-4, 7-6 (11)).

Navarro, ranked No 82, won against Czech Tereza Martincova (6-2, 6-3) and Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 8 seed (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
