Stuttgart Open: Swiatek swats aside Fett to sprint into last eight
Iga Swiatek defeated Jana Fett 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday evening and will play either Emma Navarro, the No 7 seed, or Jelena Ostapenko in the next round

Iga Swiatek, the second seed, raced past Croat qualifier Jana Fett 6-2, 6-2 to return to the last eight of the Stuttgart Open at the Porsche-Arena.
The Pole – a two-time former champion in Stuttgart – had most likely been expecting to play another Croat in Donna Vekic, before she was knocked out in a huge upset by world No 153 Fett.
In the end, an impressive run from Fett – during which she won her first ever WTA Tour main-draw match – came to a brisk end against the world No 2, who was in typically devastating form on Germany’s indoor clay.
Two breaks without reply were enough for Swiatek to take the opener, before Fett took an early lead with a break in the opening game. However, that was rapidly wiped out by the Pole, who then proceeded to break twice more en route to a dominant win.
Swiatek, ranked No 2, will play the winner of the match between American Emma Navarro, the No 7 seed, and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko next.
In the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament, Fett, ranked No 153, beat Donna Vekic (7-6 (2), 6-4).
