Spanish lucky loser Sara Sorribes Tormo won the Tennis in the Land title by edging out Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 4 seed, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Cleveland’s Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in Flats West Bank on Saturday evening.
In the previous rounds, Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 95, defeated Katerina Siniakova (6-2, 4-0 ret.), Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-1), American Sloane Stephens, the No 9 seed (6-1, 6-3) and German Tatjana Maria (6-4, 6-3).

Alexandrova, ranked No 22, beat Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (6-1, 6-4), Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich (7-6 (2), 6-3), Chinese qualifier Xinyu Wang (5-7, 6-0, 7-5) and Chinese Lin Zhu (7-5, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
