Thailand Open: Wang makes semi-finals
Xinyu Wang beat Yulia Putintseva 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 on Friday night and will play the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider and Hungarian qualifier Dalma Galfi in the next round

Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 3 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Thailand Open by winning against Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 7 seed, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at the True Arena Hua Hin on Friday night.
Wang, ranked No 40, will play the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider and Hungarian qualifier Dalma Galfi next.
In the previous rounds of the Hua Hin tournament, the 22-year-old Chinese benefited from the abandonment of American Emina Bektas (5-2) and beat Japanese Nao Hibino (7-5, 6-4).
Putintseva, ranked No 70, won against Thai wildcard Thasaporn Naklo (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and Swiss Viktorija Golubic (7-6, 7-6 (1)) earlier in the tournament.
