Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle beat Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the last eight of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Wednesday.
Carle, ranked No 173, will face the winner of the match between No 3 seed Jaqueline Cristian and wildcard Andreea Mitu next.
The Argentinian won against Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Bouzas Maneiro, ranked No 134, defeated Romanian Alexandra Cadanțu-Ignatik (6-3, 5-7, 6-3).
