German Noma Noha Akugue, the No 7 seed, reached the last 8 of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy by winning against Romanian wildcard Ilinca Amariei 7-6 (4), 6-1 on Wednesday night.
Noha Akugue, ranked No 165, will face the winner of the match between Romanian qualifier Maria Sara Popa and Italian Sara Errani, the No 4 seed, next.
The 19-year-old German defeated Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
In the 32, Amariei, ranked No 396, won against Spaniard Irene Burillo Escorihuela (6-4, 6-4).
