Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, the second seed, beat Russian qualifier Darya Astakhova 6-1, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Tuesday night.
Tomova, ranked No 86, will face Romanian wildcard Anca Alexia Todoni next.
