Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 4 seed, beat Japanese qualifier Misaki Doi 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament on Thursday night.
Sakkari, ranked No 6, will face Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous round, Doi, ranked No 331, won against Croat Petra Martic (7-5, 6-2).
