Marina Bassols Ribera reached the quarter-finals of the Valencia Open by defeating lucky loser Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales 6-4, 6-4 at the Valencia Tennis Club on Wednesday.
Bassols Ribera, ranked No 130, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo and Italian Sara Errani, the No 3 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Marina Bassols Ribera won against wildcard Charo Esquiva Banuls (6-2, 6-2).
Maristany Zuleta De Reales, ranked No 345, beat Russian lucky loser Alena Fomina-Klotz (6-3, 7-5) in the previous round of the BBVA Open.
