Vancouver Open: Grammatikopoulou makes final

Valentini Grammatikopoulou beat Emma Navarro 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 on Saturday evening and will face Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed, in the final

Greek qualifier Valentini Grammatikopoulou moved into the final of the Vancouver Open by beating American Emma Navarro 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at Hollyburn Country Club on Saturday evening.

Grammatikopoulou, ranked No 239, will face Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the Greek won against Australian Astra Sharma (6-2, 6-2), Canadian wildcard Cadence Brace (7-5, 6-2) and Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (6-3, 6-4).

Navarro, ranked No 168, won against Canadian Rebecca Marino, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7)), Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) and top seed Madison Brengle (5-7, 6-2, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
