Vancouver Open: Peterson books spot in last 4

Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 5 seed, reached the semi-finals of the Vancouver Open by defeating Australian Maddison Inglis 6-1, 7-6 (5) at Hollyburn Country Club on Friday evening.

Peterson, ranked No 87, will face the winner of the match between Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva and Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed, next.

In the previous rounds, the Swede won against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-2, 6-2) and American qualifier Catherine Harrison (W/O).

Inglis, ranked No 140, won against Frenchwoman Harmony Tan (7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-1) and Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
