American Bernarda Pera, the No 8 seed, advanced to the last four of the Veneto Open promoted by Regione del Veneto by beating Russian Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3, 6-3 on Friday.
Pera, ranked No 103, will face the winner of the match between Filipino Alexandra Eala and Italian Sara Errani, the No 4 seed, next.
The American won against Latvian Darja Semenistaja (6-3, 6-4) and Belarusian Aliona Falei (6-4, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Rakhimova, ranked No 108, edged out Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the second seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) and benefited from the abandonment of Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck (7-6 (1), 1-0).
