Coco Gauff won the final on Sunday evening against Karolina Muchova
American Coco Gauff, the No 7 seed, won the Western & Southern Open tournament by beating Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-4 at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Cincinnati on Sunday evening.
Ahead of her victory, Gauff, ranked No 7, defeated Egyptian Mayar Sherif (6-2, 6-2), qualifier Linda Noskova (6-4, 6-0), Italian qualifier Jasmine Paolini (6-3, 6-2) and Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed (7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4).
Muchova, ranked No 17, beat Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 12 seed (6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4), Croat Petra Martic (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 8 seed (6-3, 2-6, 6-3), Marie Bouzkova (3-0 ret.) and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed (6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
