WTA Brisbane: Kudermetova through to semi-finals against Kalinina
The Russian qualifier defeated Ashlyn Krueger 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the quarter-finals

Russian qualifier Polina Kudermetova won against American Ashlyn Krueger 7-6 (5), 6-3 to advance to the semi-finals of the Brisbane International at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Friday.
Kudermetova, ranked No 107, will face Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina for a place in the final. This is the first WTA 500 semi-final for the 21-year-old.
Ahead of her win today, the 21-year-old Russian defeated Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-1, 6-3), No 13 seed Liudmila Samsonova (6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-2) and No 3 seed Daria Kasatkina (1-6, 6-2, 7-5).
Krueger, ranked No 64, won against Japanese Moyuka Uchijima (6-3, 1-6, 6-3), Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 6 seed (6-3, 6-3) and Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens (7-5, 6-0) earlier in the week.
