ATP confirm cancellation of Shanghai Masters due to COVID-19
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be felt as the ATP announced the latest adjustments to its schedule

The ATP have announced that there will be no Rolex Shanghai Masters in 2021 – making it the second year in a row the tournament has been shelved due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19.
Daniil Medvedev was the last Shanghai champion, beating Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-1 in October 2019.
The Chengdu Open and Huajin Securities Zhuhai Championships, both ATP 250s, have also been cancelled, as has the Maharashtra Open in Pune.
There are other adjustments to the schedule, with the rearranged BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells extending across 11 days in October, and the St Petersburg Open moving to week 43 with the Erste Bank Open in Vienna – the last week of October.
There are, however, also some additions. The ATP has awarded single-year licences for two events in September: an ATP 250 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on indoor hard court in week 38; and another ATP 250 in San Diego, California, on hard courts at the Barnes Tennis Center in week 39.
