Injured Tsitsipas withdraws from ATP Finals; Norrie to replace him
The Greek said he’s been bothered by a right elbow issue for several weeks

World No 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas withdrew from the Nitto ATP Finals on Wednesday, finally giving in to a right elbow injury that has been bothering him for some time.
Tsitsipas, who lost his Green Group opener to Andrey Rublev, was due to play Casper Ruud on Wednesday evening in Turin. He’ll be replaced by Britain’s Cameron Norrie, the second alternate, who will make his debut in the event.
“I’ve taken the very difficult decision to retire from the 2021 Nitto ATP Finals 2021 due to my elbow injury I have from several weeks,” Tsitsipas said. “It’s a very difficult decision on my side. I was working really hard all the season to be part of this ATP Finals but unfortunately I won’t be able to be here. “
Norrie, who won the Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells and narrowly missed out on an automatic spot in the Finals, was well-beaten by Ruud in their only previous meeting, in the final in San Diego earlier this year.
