Another setback for Dominic Thiem – Austrian tests positive for Covid-19
Dominic Thiem’s comeback will have to wait a few weeks. The Austrian revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Dominic Thiem made his long awaited return to professional tennis on Wednesday, falling to Argentina’s Pedro Cachin, 6-3, 6-4, at the Marbella Challenger in Spain.
Though it was a loss, it is great news that Thiem finally is healthy enough to begin his comeback. Today we learned that the comeback will be delayed further, as the Austrian took to social media to inform the public that he has tested positive for Covid-19.
“Looks like lately the good news don’t last long,” Thiem posted on Instagram. “Last night after dinner, I started feeling unwell and didn’t have a good night. After developing mild symptoms, I decided to take a test this morning, which came back positive for COVID-19.
“Now I have to wait and see how it develops. I’ll keep you posted. Thank you all in advance for your support!”
Thiem had been slated to take part in next week’s ATP-250 event at Marrakech. No word on an official withdrawal as of yet.
