Cirstea battles past Vekic to reach Birmingham semis
Cirstea beats Vekic 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 and will next meet Yastremska or Zhang for a place in the Birmingham final

Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 6 seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Birmingham Classic by battling past Croatian qualifier Donna Vekic in three sets at Edgbaston Priory Club on Friday.
Cirstea led 3-0 and 5-3 in the first set before Vekic fought back to take it 7-5. Cirstea then bounced back from an early break in the second set to win 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and 29 minutes.
The 36th ranked Romanian will face either Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska or Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 8 seed, in the semi-finals.
