German Angelique Kerber, the No 15 seed, defeated Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 6-0, 7-5 to move into the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday evening.
Kerber, ranked No 19, will play Pole Magda Linette next.
