WTA Citi Open: Venus Williams’ conqueror Rebecca Marino through to quarter-finals

Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino reached the quarter-finals of the Citi Open by winning against German Andrea Petkovic 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 on Wednesday evening.
Marino, ranked No 111, will face Daria Saville next after the Aussie upset top seeded American Jessica Pegula.
The Canadian had edged out American wildcard Venus Williams (4-6, 6-1, 6-4) in the previous round while Petkovic, a former top 10 playwer now ranked No 68, had defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-2).
