San Jose Open: Anisimova through to quarter-finals defeating Pliskova

Amanda Anisimova won against Karolina Pliskova 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 on Wednesday and will play the winner of the match between Greek Maria Sakkari, the top seed, and American Shelby Rogers in the next round

American Amanda Anisimova defeated Czech Karolina Pliskova, the No 8 seed, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 to move into the last eight of the San Jose Open at San Jose State University Tennis Center on Wednesday.

Anisimova, ranked No 22, will face the winner of the match between Greek Maria Sakkari, the top seed, and American Shelby Rogers next.

Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old American had won against wildcard Ashlyn Krueger (6-2, 7-6 (5)).

Pliskova, a former world No 1 now ranked No 15, had beaten wild card Katie Boulter (1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3) in her first match this week.
