American teenager Coco Gauff will break into the world’s top 10 on Monday.
The 18-year-old is set to rise to No 8 when the rankings are updated on Monday, having made the quarter-finals of the US Open.
Gauff is the youngest player to make the WTA top 10 since a 17-year-old Nicole Vaidisova did it in 2006, further indication of her progress in the women’s game.
The American reached her first Grand Slam final earlier this year at the French Open and last month became the No 1 player in doubles, the second-youngest woman ever to achieve that mark.
