Djokovic waiting for official confirmation of Indian Wells and Miami shut-out

Novak Djokovic says he is still waiting official confirmation that he will not be allowed to enter the United States in March to play the Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami.

The USA’s ban on allowing unvaccinated non-citizens into the country (without an exemption) has been extended to April 10, which would exclude him from the two tournaments for the second year in a row.

Djokovic, who remains unvaccinated against Covid-19 and says he has no plans to change his mind, said he was not sure the news, which was released on Wednesday, is official, but will accept his plight.

“I saw it, but I don’t think it’s official yet,” he told reporters in Adelaide. “When it’s official, then we can speak about it.

“Look, if it is official, then it is. I mean, what can I do? Nothing. That’s it. You know my position. It is what it is. I’m hoping (to be allowed in), but if I can’t go, I can’t go. That’s it.”
